I went to UCF and had the pleasure of talking with him on many occasions. Hearing him play was phenominal as well. The part that struck me is that he could essentially play whatever was in front of him. He could play principal trumpet in a symphonic group and then tear it up playing lead trumpet for a big band.
Thanks for the article, I left college before that was done so I had no knowledge of it.
