As with any dealer, make sure you know the value and prevailing price of anything before you buy it. In most cases of buying things in this world, the burden of knowing that is on you. This dealer does not have a reputation for being an exception to this basic principle, but if you follow it, and choose an instrument sensibly and pay a fair price, you can get what you need. Beware of house brands that are priced similarly to established brands.

If you need to borrow money to purchase the tuba, I would suggest arranging that separately so that you are paying the dealer all at once. Tuba dealers sometimes have deals with local finance companies to provide financing, but rarely do these services offer the best terms. It would be much better to borrow from someone you know and trust, with a very fast payment plan and low interest. It would be better still to pay yourself those payments and buy the instrument after the money is in the bank.

I would also enlist the aid of a teacher who is not connected with a dealer, and ask for their advice before making a selection.
