Personally, I'd like to see a smart engineer design a suspension case for a tuba, that was not designed on the idea that "bigger is better." There is an engineering school that has a contest every year, in which the students have to design a "case" for a raw egg such that it can be dropped from a two story building without breaking. Surely some of that concept could be applied to a tuba flight case.
