Bloke is right; it's a 36J Orchestra Grand Bass. (Note that not all 36J's are the same. I have a catalog page showing one with a removable bell and angled valves rather than the vertical arrangement of the valves on this instrument.)

And it's definitely a BAT.

But I've only played a very few BAT's in my life that were easy to manage, and the big Conns are not known to be easy. Furthermore, a junior-high kid would struggle carrying one of these around.

For less money, there are many, many more appropriate instruments that are easier to play and don't have "issues". This one should be owned by someone wanting its particular BAT qualities, who is willing to deal with the issues to get those qualities.
