Yeah, that sounds about right. I use my F tuba about once a year. Usually, it's a transcription where the original tuba part was intended for a smaller instrument, such as Brahms or Berlioz.

The 181 is about as versatile as any rotary F tuba, but it's still an F tuba. If you want an F with a CC sound and low-register response, you need a Willson piston F or a Yamaha 822, in my opinion. And even these won't have the power of a bigger contrabass.
