About 15 years ago, a friend of mine did a bassoon recital in which there were visual artists on stage (which actually became dance AND painting) along with people in the crowd with inconspicuous cans of household air fresheners spraying away. His concept was one of exciting all of the senses. It was very effective, except that the fumes made some people mildly queasy. I have used dancers in my recitals before with great success. If you go through with it, videotape so we can all see it!!
