Jay, if you look at "new messages", it will just list down all the messages that are new since you last logged in. That helps avoid the compartmentalization of the categories. But it does not restore the threading.
I'm keeping an open mind. There are certainly some aspects of the new forum that I like. And the software is more flexible than we realize--there may be ways yet undiscovered to bring back the things we prefer in this software. We'll see.
