I agree with Sean. It is better just to learn the fingerings than to do transposition, even though this particular transposition trick is pretty easy. The problem is that you never really learn the fingerings and, especially with a bunch of sharps or accidentals, you get flustered. Think about it, if you now own (or are about to own) an Eb, you don't want to have to transpose in order to read music and play it.

On the other hand to become more facile at transposition, instead of trying to remember the rules of all of these various transposition exercises, study transposition thoroughly until you are very familiar with various transpositions and WHY they work the way they do. Then, if you forget the rules, you can recall them by simply figuring them out the long way.
