Speaking of a joke, could I mention the most hilarious product on the market, the "Clarinet Practicer", put out by Humes & Berg?:

It is a box that is three feet long by one foot square. It has acoustical padding on the inside, a hole in the top (to insert the clarinet) and two strategically-placed holes in the sides (for the player's arms). If this isn't funny enough, the ad features a (1958?) vintage photo of a dude with heavy black-rimmed glasses, a short-sleeved white shirt, a skinny tie, a pocket protector, and sporting a flat top. <-(all true)

I don't know if the bottom of the Clarinet Practicer is painted red, like their Stonelined Mutes...

Maybe we should encourage them to produce a similar product for apartment-dwelling tuba players. I can only imagine it's possible shape. Write your congressman. Yamaha, eat their dust...
