I own a VMI 103. It definitely plays as well as or better than tubas that cost thousands more. I have absolutely no problems with my VMI aside from some tuning quarks that can be worked around. It gets a great sound and the valves are liquid smooth and the best i've ever used. If you seriously are trying to get a tuba on a limited budget, as i was. This tuba is the way to go.
