Russell, one of the finest of these from my past is a fellow (coincidentally) named Gary Russell. He left Memphis eons ago and moved to Vegas. He was/is a total bass trombone virtuoso and after about three or four years of pursuing excellence in tuba performance was up to "artist" performance level on his Mirafone 184 CC tuba. I seem to recall seeing an ad many years ago for the Las Vegas Brass Quintet with his mug and tuba in the picture.
I haven't seen him in (possibly) twenty years, but he is an extremely nice guy and if you can track him down, I'm sure he would be glad to talk with you.
