There is a website (sorry, I don't have the URL) where the horns owned/used by the better known pros and college professors are listed. The last time that I visited the site, it had not been updated for quite a while.
Such a listing would indeed accomplish exactly what Jay is referring to--getting the word out among our small community of tuba players who chooses what axe.
