I own a Willson EEb, purchased in April of 1999 and used almost continually
since its arrival. If you want my assessment of the horn, read the latest
Willson " Mouthpiece". I set up every EEb I could find to try; when I got to
the Willson, my wife of 40 years gasped, "you have to have that horn. It was
not music; it was your soul comming out of the bell." I guess she liked it.
I have been playing for 51 years and I have never found a horn that is so
centered as this one is. I, too, use it for orchestral and solo work and I
also play in a British-style brass band with other EEb tubas (Boosey 981 and
983s). The only horn I did not try was a Nirschel so I can not comment on it.
