There is a guy named Jerome on this site that is selling his PT-6P (piston). He'll be at Tanglewood this summer. You should get in touch with him. If you need a horn, the PT-6 is a good choice. I've played in quintet's with it. It was okay, but it is a little bit too big sometimes. Do you own a horn now or is this your first tuba purchase. If it is your first purchase I would go with the PT-6. It is a great starting point. Maybe later on you'll switch to an F tuba for quintet playing but you don't have to worry about that now.
Hey do you know Andy Miller from the Boston Conservatory and the Paramount Brass? He is a good friend of mine and plays a PT-6 in quintet and swears by it. You should get in touch with him if you don't already know him.
