If you think that your future earnings potential will be increased by at least what you borrowed plus interest, then yes it's worth it. How do you know that?
Well, I guess it depends on what you want to do. Attending Julliard, for instance will carry a lot more weight when looking for a classical musical job that when looking for a punk rock tuba job.
If you intend to be a performance major, I'll tell you what is the absolutely most important thing to consider. It's not the school. It's who will be teaching you tuba.
