I'd bet that you have some exposed brass on your mouthpiece. The acid of your body transfers minute particles onto your skin, which will continue to cause problems even after you stop playing. At 'certain times' (not necessarily the most -er- eventful times), either your skin will be more acidic, causing more material to be transferred, or you are simply more susceptible to the problem.

Solutions: For most folks, silver plating is enough. For some, gold is needed. Once in a blue moon you will encounter someone for whom delrin plastic is the only solution. BTW, the nail polish thing will help you at least test the theory.
