One other question....but just about the school: are you someone who is happier being a small fish in a big pond, or a big fish in a small pond? Sometimes you get to a very competetive school, in a city like New York, and the whole thing just chews you up and spits you out. And you would have become a better tuba player and a less neurotic person by going to Podunk University in East Somewhere.
In the end, of course, it's the teacher as well as you. Sometimes Podunk University has a fabulous, caring tuba teacher. Sometimes Podunk University has a noncaring blathering idiot who only wants to get to retirement.
