DAT is the best for quality, but I've done several BBC local radio recordings where the engineers have used minidisc. They say unless the recording is going to be a professional CD run, the qality of minidisc is great.
I understand the qualities of DAT, but I've had a lot of trouble with portable DAT recorders, especially the Sony.
