This brings up a question that I've wondered about (and that Joe S. could answer in a heartbeat).

When one of your custom babies is produced, what proportion of the total man-hours spent on it is for cosmetic purposes. In other words, how much of the total time do you spend actually cutting, bending and soldering in relation to the time spent scraping, buffing ragging, degreasing and spraying/baking or prepping for plating?

My guess is that tubas would be a LOT cheaper if they didn't have to look pretty.
