There is a store over in England that has been selling BRAND NEW euphs at a huge discount on ebay, even compared to the large discount houses here in the states. I think there was a BRAND NEW Yamaha 642-S that was sold last month just under $3K. I bought mine last year at the cheapest price (at Chuck Levin's) available, for $3700 with tax. If I had to do it all over again, there is no question that I'd go for this.
There is one on there right now, actually. Check it out.
The Yamahas are known for their legendary consistency, so you don't have to worry about getting a dog.
If you aren't interested in the 642, Miraphone and Meinl-Weston euphs can be had new here in the states for around $3K. Of course you can find a used instrument in your price range.
