Cimbassso seems to be a slippery term. I've come to the conclusion that it refers to any bass or contrabass instrument whose tubing is largely cylindrical. So you can have cimbassi that look like trombones, or bent trombones (like the Rudi Meinl) or ones that look like this one, just introduced by Orsi (though note that Orsi doesn't call it a cimbasso). Contrabass trombonium, maybe?
