Good advice. Maybe even try standing the instrument up and crouching down so the lens is in line with the middle of the horn. Use a plain, contrasting background and try to avoid reflections.
Some might have copies of the Bill Bell tuba book from way back last century. If you look carefully in the reflection on the bell of the instrument, you will see the photographer and Harvey Phillips. Maybe some reflections aren't so bad as anybody who studied the method well enough to become a mirror inmage of Harvey or Bill wouldn't have to feel ashamed, even if they were a BATplayer.
