I've had a silver Hirsbrunner for 18 years. I use Tarni-shield by 3M which works very well. It also has a tarnish inhibitor, which is suppose to help keep the tarnish away longer. I will still get patchy tarnish after about 2-3 months. I have not given up on keeping the silver looking bright and will touch it up every 4 months or so, some years I’m better at that than others. I think if you wipe down the instrument with a polishing cloth after use it will help with keeping the finish and tarnish. After about 15 years I have lost silver plating on spots where my hands hold the tuba, wish I would have wiped it down more. Good Luck
