I bought a Model 25 in college in '72 and put a lot of mileage on it. I sold it about '77 and have regretted letting it go it ever since. They're excellent horns: durable, great tone, valves that are as good as any I'v seen anywhere, tremendous projection and presence. 25's speak easily and quickly in all registers, and I had an easier extended high and low register on this horn than any other horn I've ever played. Unless your teacher is a real CC fanatic, the 25 should fill most of your needs through college.

The one complaint that I had about the 25 is its intonation; I had to do a fair amount of slide pulling.

Dave Fedderly at Baltimore Brass recently had a 25 with a plywood case for $3400 that was used but almost like brand new.
