I contacted Reunion Blues about cleaning inside a nylon gig bag; they, also, strongly advised against using solvents, but suggested using either soap and water (and waiting close to forever for it to dry), or using a foam-type upholstery cleaner. I used the foam (rub it in, wipe off with a damp towel, let dry a few minutes) with very good results, although I was just trying to clean up some slide grease and green tarnish. For more extensive cleaning, I would wait for a dry, hot day before going after it with a bucket of hot, soapy water and a scrub brush, then spending the rest of the day keeping it in
the sun to dry.
