Thanks, Matt, that was exactly the information I was looking for. It sounds to me like a euphonium with a mouthpiece larger than the typical euph size might make the most similar sound, though my euphonium (at least) wants the smaller mouthpiece to have manageable (for me) pitch.

Mark got in front of me with the recommendation to consult Doug Elliott. He can make a shank for that horn that will interchange with several cups and rims, as needed, for the effect you want. Getting rid of those adaptors might make the horn play a bit better, too.
