Nope, you're right. The Willson 3100 is a BBb contrabass, and a big one, too. I'd call it a solid 5/4 horn. The only way I'd get a high G# on that horn would be to sing it.

But the euphonium (2900) listen above the tuba, with a bell of 12 inches and a bore of .63 inches, is bigger in width than many historical tubas of greater length. I ran off the Bydlo on Chuck G's 2975 (same instrument with front-action valves and a Canadian Brass logo), and I thought it was just plain wonderful.

But I ain't paying that kind of money so I can play excerpts in my basement, heh, heh. My battered Besson will do fine for that purpose.
