Want to have it really mixed up?

In bands with varying manning it can come in handy for an Eb tubist to be able to play the treble clef BBb part. (And the 981 is a good instrument for that task! Had no BBb back then).

Learned this special transposition by playing C horn (that is French horn) parts. Honed it by playing solo cornet parts on Eb cornet. Had no Bb cornet back then.

Having had a versatile brass life does not make one a virtuoso. But it has given a lot of fun.
