Scott,
If you can't feel any alignment problem, ie., particular difficulty in inserting/removing a slide, there probably isn't one, or not a serious one. A couple of minutes with dial calipers, an experienced repair technician, or both, will give you the answer. For lubrication, I recommend Super Lube multi-purpose lubricant with Teflon, a PTFE grease. It is a 100% synthetic heavy-duty grease, compatible with other lubricants, non-toxic, clean & clear, and will not harm any sort of fabric. I use this exclusively on my own instruments and in my shop. It is made by Synco Chemical Corp. of Bohemia, NY. Finally, this Super Lube outlasts conventional lubricants by 50-100%. No, I don't work for them, but their product works for me!
