As I was reading this post, I was thinking of what advice I would give to this player. I do this because I am a music teacher and desire to help if I can.

Slow tongueing cat nailed my advice word for word. I try to have students place their tongue where their upper teeth meet their gums; that is their tonguing spot.(I realize that I have already spelled tonguing two different ways, but I don't know the correct spelling and one is bound to be right) Anyway, the tongue should not stop the air flow, except when the articulation calls for it. It's like water coming out of a faucet. You want to move your hand through the water quickly to cut the stream, not hold it there and block the stream. Same thing for the tongue. Whenever you need to articulate, just the tip of your tongue flicks forward and touches your tonging spot. That creates the articulation.

Hope I've helped and bravo cat!
