Great advice. I have been shipping instruments and accessories for 25 years, and have had good experiences by adhering to guidelines similar to those you outline. However, I recently shipped a mute before actually having money in hand. You guessed it-----the guy never sent payment. I don't know how the guy can live with himself. It was only $55, but it's the principle of the thing. I'll never again ship anything, even valve oil, without having the money first.
