In regards to the valve section, the thread below about cutting a 2xJ gave me some thought. Why not use the set for the Yamaha 822 series? The bore there is .768". Just a shave off of the .770" bore, and shouldn't be hard to stretch the CC set to BBb. If you like the slant set of the York Master, this might be a comfortable setup.
And why change the whole bell stack out? That collar make it too top-heavy? Or are there problems with it? I'd just find a nice big bell and mount it to the collar of the recording bell until the right bell came along, and maybe have it turned down an inch, or two, or 3...? The idea of converting the recording bell sounds kinda good too.
