howdy!

everyone has a different way of naming octaves, but my preference (and possibly the least confusing) is midi-style. Middle C = C4, the lowest C on a piano is C0, highest C on a piano is C8. The number goes from C to B above it, then moves up one (e.g.- C1-B1, C2-B2, etc.). If you're wondering, below C0 is B-1, Bb-1, A-1, etc. Hope this helps! =^)
