Very interesting, my CC has rotary valves (Mirafone) and my Eb has pistons (Yamaha) I kept them because of the sound.Every player has their own opinion on what they want to sound like, don't buy a horn because of its' valves.
Below in the post, Chuck mentioned Roger Bobo on his 184, I sat next to his students also playing 184's, very scary hearing 2 great players fill(overfill) those little horns.
