The group's around 85 or 90, with five guys in the section. Four of us happen to play Mirafones (184, 186, 190 private property, 188 belongs to the school), and one guy plays some kind of Yamaha I've never seen. It's like a small 4/4 size five-valve CC with the fifth valve on the left hand. I have no idea what the model is. The group's actually quite good, and the section's strong.
I'm going to be trying out another community band Tuesday night, supposedly around the same size, and my buddy and I will make tubas eight and nine - now that's a section!!! The director's a tuba player, so that might have something to do with the huge bottom end...
