Buzzing the mouthpiece is an excellent way to increase embouchure efficiency, air flow, and accuracy. While drills on the mouthpiece are OK, the #1 Jacobs recommendation was to play familiar songs and melodic material. The key is to play very familiar songs where the melody and pitch are firmly ingrained in your mind. There's a lot of good work that can be done with "My Country tis of Thee", "Pop Goes the Weasel" (high on the Arnold Jacobs MP hit-parade), "Jingle Bells" etc. I've also enjoyed buzzing "Aloha Oe". Doing this kind of work is more fun and every bit as beneficial as buzzing drills.
