I'm out of Cambridge and both of the local shops you mentioned are disapointing. As far as low brass goes they offer nothing, new or used. They are in it for the sale (obviously) but they scream that they are top rank, being around the corner from Symphony Hall does not count. In Arlinton they don't know what a Tuba is, I've never seen one there. In Boston they try selling you a renamed Cervany something, "but we can order you one of whatever you want" not the correct coment from pros who should know that you need to try out horns!
Sadened that Boston falls short in the low brass dept and price! :(
