Miraphone lists the 1295 as a large 4/4 sized horn. It's probably accurately described as a 5/4 horn. The bore on the 1295 isn't that different from that on the Willson 3400, but of course there is more tubing to get to CC rather than Eb. All this is a long way to say that the 1295 shouldn't be too large for the type of playing that you describe. It will just take some getting used to after only playing Eb for a while. On the other hand, the Willson is a great horn, and if you can comfortably play what you need to in the orchestra with it, and the sound works, there's no reason that you couldn't just use it there.

Others have given good advice about mouthpieces to try to help you become more comfortable with the Miraphone.

If after playing with it for a while and trying different mouthpieces you are still not comfortable with the 1295, you could consider a smaller bore horn, like the Conn 56J or Getzen G50.
