There are probably a few other people that could say they own the "first" prototype. The truth is, Richard has one of the first 3 horns, in satin brass, with no "CONN" logo on the bell.(because at the time it made, UMI was planning on making it a King product line. I actually played his horn at the factory a month before UMI sent it to him. It was by far the best of the two protptypes that were at the Eastlake Factory. I'm not sure what happened to the other horn (satin silver), but it was a dog with some problems. Rob Phillips told me at the time that horn needed to be worked on because it just didn't play right. The third prototype was in New York at the time (may 1999), but I have no idea where it is now.
