Once you get a couple years of college under your belt, then decide what you think you might want to do. Both opportunities provide great playing experiences and literature. As far as the great players only playing in orchestras - have you heard any of the elite military bands lately? There are some great players to be found in these groups as well. Ultimately, you need to decide what interests you the most and in what area do you think you can have a successful career? Best of luck to you and don't be afraid to put in the time and effort that it will take.
