the way our brass quintet here at Ithaca is similar to rhythm and brass does it:
Tuba Horn
trombone trumpet 2
trumpet 1
this way all the bells are facing outward to give the most direct sound. Sometimes we switch the tuba and trombone but this way seems to work. it's all personal preference really.
