be very careful with "all-in-one" units like the one you're considering. These types of recorders with xlr inputs are notorious for the poor quality of their mic preamps (the first place the signal from your horn hits the recorder). The mic preamp is one of the most crucial points in the signal chain, as both an engineer (undergrad, magna cum laude) and a Master's candidate (euph performance), I feel like I know both sides of the "board". Email me off board with questions or comments. BTW, I don't like mini-disc format, as a general rule, for recording "raw demos". Just my .02 worth.
