Hey-

I think that the best thing for a high school teenager that has any notion of wanting to play professionally needs to go to college. College is the place where you learn professionalism (not to mention how to play better with much practice). Orchestras are really looking for as close to perfection as they can get. High school players aren't going to meet that level. Here is some great words that my tuba professor Dr. Dennis AsKew here at UNCG gave me that I really and think about everytime I step into a practice room:

"You are a good, young player, yes. However, you’re not the top. Yet. You need to work, I mean really work HARD at developing all you techniques, on both CC and F."

Think about that and also think about where you want to be later down the road.
