Well, I dont know much about Ben's resume, but I've heard him play euphonium live, and he is freakin amazing. Scary amazing. Extremely agressive, very strong--he manhandles pieces like the Ellerby concerto, doesnt "just" play them.
From what I have heard, he is JUST as much a monster on tuba. So, he can play the crap out of both instruments.
He did win Falcone on euphonium, then 2 or 3 years later won it on tuba. I dont think anyone else has ever done that before. Check the Falcone site.
I've never talked to him, nor known any of his students, so I dont know what he's like as a person, or as a teacher, but I KNOW he can play!!
