I had a problem with an instructor telling me not to be so loud and blatty. Since I don't consider anything my Mirafone puts out "too loud" and I make a practice of not blatting, I didn't know what he was talking about (until I was on the podium). There were very strange acoustical properties in that particular room, and any instrument toward the back and left sounded painfully loud while instruments in the front sounded muffled. He was glad, when I mentioned the differences in sound, and rehearsals were moved to another room.

What is the level of the ensemble(s)?
Who is telling you that you are too loud?
