I have played on four different Wilson 2900. All of them played a little differently from each other. I have never played on the 2950. I'd say to try them both, use a tuner, and take another euphonium player to give you an opinion on how you sound on the instrument. Also, the other euphonium player can play as well so you can hear how the instrument responds. Pay attention to intonation in the upper range (high F)and tightness of the instrument. These can all vary from Wilson to Wilson. My opinion is that the 2900 with a schilke 51D mouthpiece is the way to go. But to each his/her own. Good Luck Wilson hunting!
