In defense of Dillon's:

The first was a piston valve horn.

The one now is a rotary valved horn.

I believe the first one was sold as Dillon's property.

This one is on consignment.

The first one was a good horn.

The second is probably a good horn with "real" orchestral use to back it up.

BTW, the $8500 was a steal for what they normally charge for an "in house" creation. FWIW, I played (probably 5 years ago now) a Conn Eb to CC conversion with short action valves. If I had the $9700 that was on the sticker, I would now own that horn. It WAS worth the money.

Anyhow, current used value on a MW2000 is whatever the seller determines it is worth to get them to the next financial goal. If the horn payed for itself twice over and the owner just wants to move on, then there is probably some negotiation to be done.

It's kind of like cars. When you buy one and own it you have to think of three things: What do I need to get from it, what is fair market value, and what value did I derive from it during my duration of ownership.

$8500 is possible if the right seller and buyer meet.
