Isn't the reason that John Fletcher stated was the reason he recorded the Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto on an EEb tuba instead of F because "I 'aven't bloody well got 'n F" ?
For the past few months, a friend has loaned me a contrabass tuba, and I'm doing some very serious shopping for one for myself (again). Before this if I was asked to play in a concert band, I've used an F, because "I 'aven't bloody well got a double-B".
