To paraphrase a "jazzer" saying: "The F is your friend, the CC is your spouse, confuse the two and you'll lose your house." This was a trumpet/fluegelhorn thing originally said by, I think, Conte Condoli of tonight show fame. It makes a lot of sense in that you have to take care of the main horn while working on the auxillary stuff.
