The outgoing tubist, David Norris, is alive and well and taking a one-year leave of absence. This may or may not become a permanent leave of absence, meaning Chris may or may not have a permanent job.
Winnipeg's principal bass player, Moragh Parks, was killed in a car accident in April.
And the audition was not advertised in AFM because this was a national audition, i.e. Canadians only. All Canadian orchestras are required to hold national auditions before international auditions, and it would appear that in this case the committee decided to accept Chris Lee and not go on with an international audition.
